Loretta the Cat needs a home

LORETTA...Little Miss Tortietude : ) Mother Loretta and her babies (Otis, Sully, Festus, Audie and Janie) were found under a woman's house out in the countryside. The woman was able to manage getting mom and the kittens into her garage. The kittens were approximately 2 weeks old. It seems overnight, Mom's milk dried up and the kittens were not able to feed. Because the rescuer travels a great deal for her job, she was unable to provide them the time and care necessary to bottle feed 5 babies and care for a worn-out mom. The family came to Forgotten Felines for some well deserved round the clock care and rest. We guesstimate Loretta to have been born in late 2007, early 2008. Loretta knows who she is and is looking for the right family to adopt her and let her be herself...no putting on airs to impress, Miss Loretta is who she is. Loretta is not particularly fond of other cats, so she would be an excellent candidate for being an only child. She tends to like it better when people move slowly around her...giving her your hand to sniff before petting her or brushing her will win you big rewards. She tends not to like having her tushy messed with, so steer clear and stick with her "happy" places : ) Loretta is a quiet, polite cat that still loves to play. Nothing fancy for her...toy mice, feathers...chasing is tons of fun!! Once in a while, Loretta will get a tad grumpy when you try to pick her up...realize that she is a sturdy girl and you have to really put two hands on her for her to be comfortable. If you are gentle and soft spoken, she is so much more cooperative. Read the following paragraph...it will explain a bit more of who and what Miss Loretta is all about... According to Helium.com: Cat facts: Tortoiseshell "Tortoiseshell cats have very particular personality traits that many describe as "Tortitude." While all cats are different, Torties tend to share in common the fact that they are very impish and curious. These cats are often also playful and entertaining, though they tend to not only be very naughty, but perfectly aware of when they're bending the rules. Torties are generally very sociable, but they've also been described as fearful of strangers. Regardless, the Tortie will very quickly warm up to humans if presented with treats or given some space. Some will go as far as to describe Torties as having diva personalities, though they're known to be very affectionate. Many Torties are considered to be somewhat bi-polar: one second, they will be purring, and the next they will be biting or hissing with no provocation. Also, Tortoiseshell cats can be very vocal, particularly when they are spoiled and when they receive attention upon meowing in the middle of the night or the early morning. It is important to constantly provide Torties with means of entertainment mainly in the form of toys and attention. Toys do not need to be expensive or elaborate creations, as a simple elastic band, piece of string or sock filled with cotton balls will do the trick. If left bored and unoccupied, Torties are famous for getting in trouble: jumping up on kitchen counters or tables, chewing on plants or peeing in their pots, or meowing and dragging around their toys until they get the attention they want. Often, when they finally get what they want, Torties tend to act as though they aren't interested in your love and affection. Don't be fooled: though they put up a tough, independent exterior, Torties are always looking for your undivided attention." Miss Loretta is probably not the choice for a family with small children, or someone who has never had a cat...or of course, someone who thinks she will conform...Miss Loretta is not the conforming type...what you see is what you get!!
